Salma Bougoune

Salma, born in Lome, Togo in 1974, faced early challenges following the death of his father, leading to a move to northern Togo where he experienced subsistence farming. After completing secondary school in central Togo, he pursued electronics repair, launching a successful workshop in 2001. However, his true passion lies in sustainable development. In 2018, he founded OSMER SARL to provide solar energy solutions to rural communities, earning recognition in international development circles. Collaborating with Cal Poly professor Pete Schwartz, Salma initiated projects like ISECooking and sustainable water access in Togo, including the Demo Farm which has garnered support from NGOs. Salma, married to Beatrice with two sons, credits his family's unwavering support for his endeavors, especially Beatrice's guidance in managing their electronic shop and the Demo Farm.
